She stayed a little longer this time.

I happened to acquire another pupa after a coworker was unable to take it home over the weekend.  The chrysalis started turning colors on Saturday from a jade green, to milky green, then dark black, and was clear on Sunday morning.

When this happened to Pete, I did not realize that he would emerge soon.  Within an hour of looking like a butterfly capsule he came out, and I totally missed it.  Sunday I was determined to sit at the table until this butterfly came out.  I turned to see what my niece was watching on TV for a minute and turned back around to see a brand new butterfly.  I missed it.  Again.

Unlike Pete, she took her sweet time getting her wings working.  While waiting I snapped at least a hundred pictures.  Sometime around 9 pm she sat on a flower, rested a bit, and then fluttered away.  The pictures included in the gallery are from the first attempt to release her.
