About

These few paragraphs took a while, but they are finally here. I hope the following details provide some much needed clarity.

Things may seem out of chronological order because some of the posts are from previous blogs written in the past 2 or 3 years and moved over to this site instead. The majority are now recent and will hopefully steadily continue coming along. Since the timing of the “Old School” blogs is a mix, I will give a bit of background information to help make sense of things.

I am a native Texan and have lived here all my life. While I do not agree with everything Southern, the culture, attitude, and mentality gained from living in this state and a small town are things I treasure. I attended Texas A&M University where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Entomology and a minor in Architectural History. During college I worked as a tutor, librarian, and waitress, hence the acidic tone of some posts. Currently I live in Houston and work in genetics which evokes a so-so feeling from me, hence the stressed and bitter tone of some posts. On the weekends I balance out my nerdiness, and earn some extra income, by working at a popular pub in the Village. The 48-hour respite from lab coat to tank top is more than welcome, especially after the more lucrative shifts.

Some may wonder why I would take on another project after already having two jobs. The purpose of this website is more or less to let out my stifled creative side after the long days saturated with biochemistry and genetics and distributing alcoholic libations. Writing and art are both passions that have been neglected due to academic pursuits. JuicyK provides a forum for me to substantially revitalize and share those interests on a consistent basis. Merely the thought of being able to do this leaves me happier than I have been in a long time, and it is so exciting!

As far as what this site is about, well, I still do not have the slightest clue other than the universal “me”. I suppose the goal is to write about my interests, life, and opinions while hoping I give a little something to any visitor taking the time to read what I put on the screen. If you smile, laugh, scoff, relate, or find yourself entertained by a million other possible emotions, then I am satisfied.

With that said, please feel free to comment, suggest, critique, and provide any feedback on the content thus far…oh, and enjoy.
