Automotive Candy and Fun for the Eyeballs

My official vacation road-trip ended Friday night around 10 pm in time to catch the Houston news.  From the news I learned that the Art Car Parade/Show would be Saturday at 1 pm.  Last year’s parade was great, so I opted to forgo getting some rest and headed to the show around 11 the next morning.  This year ended up being more enjoyable than the last due to learning from things that could have made my previous experience even better, such as:  arriving early enough to get good parking (having an SUV made this much easier), instead of driving past the field using it as a parking lot, sitting on the opposite side of the street to get a better view, and arriving early, getting there early, coming early.  Check, check, check, and check.

Characters of all sorts come to see the cars, actually build the cars, or are hoping to sell something.  This guy was pitching love and hugs.  I was a little too freaked out to buy what he was selling, but he did pique my interest and a smile.

Happy Earth Day to everyone!  Now go out and enjoy it.

This picture was taken at Manini Beach on the Big Island (Hawaii) in Hawaii.  I was scouring through my photos to find a picture that embodies what I think Earth Day is all about.  It took a while to figure out which photos most illustrated my love of nature and decided the crab handshake would be the one to make the cut.  It says, “I’m nature.  Meet me.  Love me.  Cherish me.  Enjoy me.”

And I say, “Okay, man.  Will do.”

In the sea of green, there was lonely “J”.

Saint Patrick’s Day was filled with puke, pervs, the pub, plenty of people, and I survived it all.  Barely.

From women offering to expose themselves for free beer to men wishing I would inspect under their kilt and everything in between, I can definitely say that March 17th, 2009 was not a boring day.

The day began by waking up at 6:30 am and preparing to get as much done as possible in the lab.  My next six hours were spent frantically trying to purify and check my Polymerase Chain Reaction product in order to make Thursday and Friday a little less hectic.  It was still a bit of a spastic scene as I tried to pipette up and down as rapidly as my thumb could bend.  All that effort allowed me to make it out of the lab 45 minutes later than expected, putting me back at the house around 1:15 pm.  Close to 2 pm a manager from the pub called to say things were starting to pick up, and I was more than welcome to come in early.  Seeing as how I procrastinate with almost everything, that gave me about an hour to get “tip-ready”, put together an outfit, and pack all necessary supplies.  From the process of trying to rush around my disaster area of a room I acquired several bruises, a few scrapes, and was able to sweat the majority of my make-up off.  Not the best start.  And, I had to settle on a simple “Jessica thinks tipping is HOT!” for my jars.  Not very creative, but point made.
